At WhatTheFridge, one of our main priorities is the privacy of our users. This Privacy Policy describes which information we collect inside the app and how we use it to deliver our inventory tracking features.

This Privacy Policy applies to our online services and is valid for users of WhatTheFridge regarding information shared or collected in the app. It does not apply to information collected offline or through other channels.

By using WhatTheFridge you consent to this Privacy Policy and agree to its terms.
Whenever we ask you to provide personal information, we explain why we need it at that specific point in the experience.
Information We Collect
We only collect the information needed to run core features such as inventory logging, household sharing, and premium billing.
If you contact us directly, we may receive additional information about you such as your name, email address, the contents of your message, attachments you send, and any other data you choose to provide.
When you create an account we may request contact details (name, email), household participants, and optional product photos captured inside the app.
How We Use Your Information
We use collected information to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the app
- Improve, personalize, and expand WhatTheFridge
- Understand and analyze how you use our features
- Develop new products, services, features, and functionality
- Communicate with you for customer support, updates, onboarding, and marketing
- Send transactional emails and push notifications
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud or misuse
Inventory & Scan Data
WhatTheFridge accesses your camera and barcode scanner to speed up inventory capture. This access is optional and can be revoked in your device settings.
- Data is collected only when you actively add or edit items
- Captured photos and scan metadata are stored with your account in secure servers
- Information is used to create product entries, suggest matches, and sync shared household lists
- We never sell barcode, photo, or inventory data to third parties
Log Files
We follow standard log-file procedures. The data recorded includes IP address, device type, operating system, timestamps, and interaction counts. These logs are not directly linked to identifiable information and help us analyze trends, administer the app, and improve reliability.
Third-Party Privacy Policies
WhatTheFridge's Privacy Policy does not apply to other providers. Review the privacy practices of services you connect, such as Apple Health or Google services, for their opt-out details.
When you choose to integrate a third-party service, we only exchange the minimum data required to deliver that integration and never receive passwords.
CCPA Privacy Rights
California consumers have the right to request disclosures, deletions, or opt-outs related to their personal data. If you submit a request we respond within one month.

- Ask us not to sell personal data (we already do not sell data)
GDPR Data Protection Rights
Every user located in the EU or EEA is entitled to:

- Erasure – request deletion under specific conditions
- Restriction – request limits on processing under certain circumstances

Children's Information
Protecting children online is part of our commitment. We encourage parents and guardians to monitor app usage.
WhatTheFridge does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe your child provided such data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be published inside the app and the "Last updated" date will change. Continued use of WhatTheFridge after updates means you accept the new terms.
